How to Style Plus-sized Women

Tips for Ladies with Curves

It can be tricky to find clothing fits and flattering. For many years the fashion industry did not acknowledge plus-sized women and when they did it was average-sized women. As we are in the age of inclusivity and body positivity. However, it can still be a struggle to find something that fits but is also cute. Here are some style tips to help those on the curvy side.

Wear good undergarments to create the perfect foundation to build off of. If you do not get undergarments that do not properly support you it will create those unflattering lumps and bumps in places you don’t want.

Try out different sizes. Sizes aren’t standardized so a size 8 does not mean it is 8 for every store. So, be open to size don’t restrict yourself to certain numbers because you think it may not fit.

Plus-sized women come in different shapes and sizes so find out what is your body shape and make adjustments. Most body shape articles don’t mention what to do if you’re plus-sized. Find people you can get inspiration from. Someone who looks like you and you can take style inspiration from.

STYLING TIPS

Don’t hide your body with oversized clothing. Embrace your body and wear clothing that properly flatters your body. Baggy clothing that is not intentional can make you look bigger than what you actually are. You want to go with fabrics that do not heavily cling to your body. You want a fabric that goes along with your curves not cling on to every lump and bump you have or may exaggerate it.

Wrap dresses look great on plus-sized bodies. Invest in good basics. You want basic that fit well because they are the fundamentals of that thing that you will wear on the daily. Don’t be afraid to wear a crop top, I know you may have heard or felt like you must cover your stomach since you are plus-sized. If you don’t want to fully commit to a crop top pair a jacket over it.

If you struggle to find the perfect fitting piece tailoring might be the way to go. You get it customized to your liking to be a perfectly fitting piece. Wearing larger prints is flattering to women on the bigger side. Take time to find jeans that look great on your body!

Be intentional with your accessories as they can dress up or down an outfit.

Just because a garment is able to fit your body does not mean it suits you. Sometime it may be too tight or too loose. You want to get that perfect middle ground of it being just right.

Be comfortable with your body, I know it is better said than done. But, not the amount of style tips can make you fill comfortable and confident in your body.
