How to Find the Perfect Suit for a Date or Job Interview
Say Yes to the Suit
There is a common saying that “Nothing looks better than a man in a suit.” And there is actually some proof behind that, “80% of the women surveyed found the man in the suit more attractive.”
However, that may be a little biased coming from a company that sells suits… But, let’s just go with. Suit shopping can be overwhelmed and stressful an ill-fitting suit can really downgrade a look. When trying on some suits ask from dress shoes to help see the completed look. So, here are some tips to get that perfect suit.
FIT

We are trying to avoid the suit that does not do your body justice. When shopping for it the shoulder area should be fitted hugging your body. When you button up the suit it should not be so much space between the button and your chest. If you can fit your hand and then some it’s not the right fit. The sleeves should be able to be touched by folding your hands. A tailor can often times alter the waist of the pants. If it needs to be smaller or larger for more than one inch it may cause some issues with the fit of the pants. Allow there to be some room for movement, but overall fitted.
BODY SHAPE
The start of finding the perfect anything is knowing your body type. Knowing your body type and what works well can make the process go faster for finding “the one.”
BIG OR TALL OR BOTH

If you’re on the bigger and taller side pay attention to the chest and shoulders making sure they have some wiggle room. Also, with the length make sure they are not too short using the tips state previously. The pants’ length should be a full break or medium break. Avoid slim or narrow lapels.
ATHLETIC

If you have a v-shape body your best bet is being your top and bottom separately since your top and bottom are different sizes. You may opt for a lower armhole and increase the room in the chest area to fit your body. A lapel that is medium to wide will accentuate your body giving that custom made look.
SLIM

For those on the thinner side opt for a slim cut suit or go down one size. Have a narrow proportion and higher armholes for your dress attire. You want to go for narrow lapels. For the length of the pants go for the no break or slight break to flatter your shape. The vest is not essential for this shape and choose a thin tie to better compliment your frame.
WEATHER
Some things to consider if you decide to pick up a suit today is the heat. For the summertime strive for breathable, lightweight fabrics such as linen, cotton, seersucker, fresco, chambray. Choose lighter colors like khakis and light grey to avoid absorbing all the heat. Try some fun and funky colors for summer to spice up your dress attire.
So, with all that being said you have some extra tips and tricks in your arsenal for your next suit shopping and hopefully you find the suit.
